A little piece of paradise!

The condo we are staying at couldn't have been in a more perfect location! We are able to carry our SUPs down to the beach, and when we're not out paddling in the surf or touring around the island, an amazing little chunk of white sandy paradise is only steps away.

It's like our own private beach!

Speaking of white sandy paradise..... Big Beach is the quintessential tropical playa - it is south of Makena, and as it's name implies, it is BIG.

Everything about the beach is BIG, including the shorebreak, and Chris decided it might be fun to play in. I on the other hand, opted to stay out of the gnarly waves.

Six to eight foot break!

Looks harmless so far....

And the thrashing begins.....

He survives!

Today is our last day on Maui, but it has been an exciting one! I'm not allowed to say why - Chris wants to tell his very important peeps back home first, before I go and blab it to Blogger Land....

So there are sad faces since we have to leave, but there are great memories since it has been a fantastic vacation! Love, love, love Maui! Mahalo and aloha 'oe!

Maui.... Revealed....

Oy, yes I know, that is an unoriginal title.... it is actually the name of the best Maui guidebook EVER, just in case you're wondering. Which we took with us again today, on our drive around the east side of the island.

In my somewhat lazy fashion (I am on holidays you know!), I'm not going to type much.... Instead, I will let the pictures tell the story of our day.

Black Sand Beach at Hana..... Gnarly!

Fun in the lava tubes.

The trail to Red Sand Beach.... choices, choices!

One of my favorite places on the whole island, I swear!

Red Sand Beach at Hana.

We are such rebels - we took the
upper trail to get to Red Sand Beach.

Mmmmmm, beer! At the halfway point of the drive. Very refreshing!

Beyond Hana....

Glad we weren't in this bus.... the driver was ka-razy!!

The drive was long, but definitely worth it! I've done it three times now, and each time I marvel at the unbelievable variety in landscape. Love it!

We decided that after nine hours in a vehicle, tomorrow will be a total beach day. I am so looking forward to it! I really need to even out my tan..... LOL!

Hope all is well across the Pacific!

Cheers!

Uno, dos, tres....

Third time's a charm, as the saying goes! I'm visiting Maui for the third time, and the amazing island fails to disappoint yet again. She is one beautiful hunk of luscious land, I must say!

We have had quite an action-packed four days thus far. I'll let my camera do the talking, because as you all know, I'm a photo junkie....

The view from our Kihei condo!

Getting acclimatized - a very important task!

Our 'private' beach - it doesn't get much better than this!

We drove the West Maui Loop on Tuesday, which was very cool....

The Dragon's Teeth

The Nakalele blowhole.

Pit stop - need some banana bread!

Gnarly West Maui roads.

The I'ao Needle is in such a cool area!

Yesterday, we checked out the summit of Haleakala.

Haleakala Summit - over 10,000 feet!

Looks like Mars?

The road to nowhere.

The stunning Haleakala Crater.

Today was a beach day, and we enjoyed a sleep-in and then we SUP'd almost all day!

It has been an action-packed holiday already, and we are both a little more sun-kissed and alot more full of rum than we were five days ago! Fun fun fun!

Tomorrow, we'll be up and at 'em early as the adventure continues - we are heading to Hana. Can't wait to see some really cool waterfalls and beaches, and YES Toni, I will get you some coconut candy!

Aloha for now!
