F-Bombs

Ha ha ha!! The F-bomb.... that term always makes me laugh out loud!! And that "term" was thrown around in many ways, shapes and forms this past few days.... as in Fun, Friends, Food, Festivities, Frivolity, Fresh air, Freedom... oh, the list could go on and on!!

Party central!

The hostess with the mostess and soon-to-be Sommelier - Sheila!

Mmmmm, wine!

Probably the best F-bomb that got dropped however, was Feet. As in, my feet are going to be all over the West Coast Trail, this September. Oh yeah baby, that's right! I've been wanting to hike that bad boy for years, and I am finally doing it! It is a guided trip and I received confirmation this morning that it's a go. Woot!

Well, I have to head back to Red Deer to work a Sunday dayshift - I need to earn some Funds for my extra-curricular activities! Hee hee! So even though this weekend was a bit of a short one, it was definitely packed with action and excitement! Love it. Love my life!

Cheers!

I'm back!

Yes! I hate to admit it, but it's true. I kind of stepped away from myself there for awhile....  It was completely unintentional - stuff happened, and life became a whirlwind, and I almost lost track of ME.... and of where I want to be, and of the people and things that are truly important to me.

This last few weeks however, I've managed to find my way back. And it's all good! I've been out enjoying the mountains, hanging with great friends, planning trips, and just plain loving everything I am so fortunate to have in my world.

Just a few of the places I've been so far - and there
are many, many more books I need to collect!

In the end, I realized that it was quite okay to have explored outside my usual bounds, because a person never really knows until they try, right? And, if you know me, then you know that when all is said and done, I believe that things work out exactly as they are supposed to.... and I've never been the type of person who worries much about the road not taken - because the roads which I have taken are the ones which have brought me to where I am today. Lucky me!

In my element.

February.... or June??

Seriously, this month has had some of the nicest weather! Today it was +7C in Canmore, and of course that made for a stellar day of hiking.

View down the CMC Valley
Eight of us traipsed out into the CMC Valley, behind Yamnuska, and it was so much fun!

Unseasonally warm temps meant that we encountered trail conditions varying from solid ice, to perfectly dry, to post-holing through knee-deep snow, to pig-pen type slop/mud. There was never a dull moment! And the scenery was gorgeous and the company was fantastic.

I had a great day! Thanks so much to Tim, Petra, Shira, Colleen, Roland, Lena, and Sheila. Can't wait to get out again!

Cheers!

The BEST back yard, ever!!

Today I spent yet another fantabulous day in the Rockies! Have I mentioned lately, how smitten I am with the mountains? Well I am! I can't believe how incredibly fortunate I am that I get to live and play here.

And I also need to mention that I have some of the most amazing people in my life.... your KNOW who you are..... *wink*wink*..... I love you all to death - although, that is a bit of a paradox, isn't it? Hee hee!!

Anyway, tonite some of those great peeps are entrusting me to feed them... Yep.... brace yourself.... I'm actually going to cook supper for a few of my friends.... brave souls, they are.... And tomorrow, we're hiking into the CMC Valley, to the tune of a forecasted PLUS SEVEN DEGREES CELSIUS.... Simply awesome!  I'm lovin' life in the Rocky Mountains - the best back yard EVER.

Cheers!

Viva Varadero!!

I know I said earlier that since I bought my place in Canmore, I wouldn't be getting on a plane any time soon.... that I'd be spending most of my free time hanging around the Rockies....

Well, that all changed today - I caved, and I booked a trip to Cuba! Yeah!!

I'm heading there in a few weeks with a group of incredible friends, and I can't wait! I'm so excited to see someplace new, and the fact that it will be nothing but turquoise water, white sand, and warm sunshine (and I imagine there will be a bit of rum!) is going to make it hard to focus on reality for the next while. Hee hee! Guess I better get brushed up on my Spanish....

Cheers!

Sunshine-y Sunday

Another incredible day was had, skiing at Sunshine.....

Such an amazing backdrop!

Enjoying the blue-sky day!

The temps were perfect, the snow was great, and it wasn't even all that busy! What a day.

Back to work tomorrow, and then in just a few more sleeps it will be an extra-long weekend.... and hopefully more skiing! Yeah!

Cheers!

Springtime in.... February??

Holy moly! It was 6 degrees Celsius around Banff today. The sun was shining full tilt, and there was no wind whatsoever. Mother Nature is so being a tease! Because we all know she is going to turn around and clock us with another wallop of winter, and it could happen at any given time.

At any rate, I'm not complaining, and I certainly enjoyed the day!

Jody and I hiked up Johnson Canyon, out to Johnson Meadows and the Ink Pots. It wasn't super busy and again, it felt like April or something! We definitely did NOT need heavy clothes. We definitely DID need sunscreen and water. Ask Jody about the water... heh heh...

Anyhow, not sure what's up for tomorrow.... Possibly skiing, or maybe even just more hiking, since the forecast continues to be amazing! Love it!!

Cheers!
