Sixty Percent Chance of Rain....

That was EnviroCan's forecast yesterday. Wow, have I mentioned lately, how little faith I have in those guys!! Good thing too, otherwise we might have missed out on a most fantastic day of hiking!

First view of Lower Headwall Lake

Don't forget to look back at where we came from!

Upper Headwall Lake

Giant boulder!
Super cool view of the Fortress

Lower Headwall Lake
In spite of the precipitation prediction, and even though there were a few ominous looking clouds, we decided to check out Headwall Lakes yesterday - which turned out to be an incredibly nice trail! The views were gorgeous, the temps were perfect, and we never did get rained on.

Colorful 'shroom

A little waterfall along Headwall Creek

I think this is supposed to be a snow-shoer, but....
A great walk, with great scenery, and best of all, with great company - what more could a girl ask for? It was such an awesome way to spend the day!

This afternoon I have to zip back to Canmore to finish up the condo purchase paperwork, and then... FIVE MORE SLEEPS til the place out there is mine all mine!! Yippeee! Life is so good!

Cheers!

Sunrise

Everybody should be so lucky as I am, to have such an amazing drive to and from their workplace! My commute is about 30km, and it takes me through some gorgeous Central Alberta farmland.

And every once in awhile, I am treated to sights such as these:

What a way to start a Monday morning, hey! The sunrise yesterday was fabulous and I'm so fortunate to have watched it, the entire way to work. Now THIS is distracted driving at its best!

Cheers!

Larch-fest!

Holy colorful landscape, Batman!

Meadows near Citadel Peak

Today I hiked up to Citadel Pass, and it was damn near a color overload. Seriously, the larches are turning, the fireweed is turning, and the entire area is teeming with fall hues. Wow.

Citadel Pass

Howard Douglas Lake

Citadel Lake

What a spectacular time of year to do this hike - I highly recommend it. And not just because of the vividness of it all, but because there is amazing variety on this 20km return trip.

Below Citadel Pass

Lakes, meadows, trees, peaks, boulders... there was so much to look at and it never got boring. The only thing that was even remotely bothersome was the slight haze, which hung around all day. Apparently there is a fire burning just to the southwest, thus causing the sky to be less than crystal clear.

Hazy today....

....but you can still make out Assiniboine!

We hoofed 'er and managed to finish in about 5-1/2 hours, including picture stops and a lunch break. Not bad, hey! It was a fabulous day!

Cheers!

More September Shenanigans

Ahhhhh, what a week! I took more days off in a row in the last ten than I have in many months... and it was a much-needed break! I had a blast!

The first part of my holidays was spent near water... I learned to wakeboard and kneeboard and took a pretty good thrashing, but it was awesome and I'd love to try it again!

First time wakeboarding! Too fun!

After the watersports adventure, I headed further west and spent some quality time with the girls on the beloved BC terra firma.  Monique, Megan and I hung out in the Kootenays and had an amazing time!

And you are never gonna believe this... but we saw 54-40, live, in Golden!! Seriously!! It was one of the best shows I've seen - they kicked ass and the evening was fantastic!

54-40.... O.M.G.!!

Love you guys!!

My time not spent at work was wicked good! I need to do it more often I think! Oh yeah, and one more tidbit of exciting information.... well at least I am excited about it, anyhow.... LOL!! I bought myself a little place in Canmore.... Yep, I finally did it! The possession date is set for October 5th, which will not get here soon enough. For now, I am keeping my house in Red Deer, and I'll be keeping my job there too. No such luck at the moment that I could move to Canmore full-time... but I can always dream!

Cheers!

September??

Seriously?? The ninth month.... oy.... Where has summer gone? Where has the year gone! Well, it is definitely feeling and looking very fall-like in the mountains:

Crowfoot Mountain - 11pm

This past weekend was a fabulous one - I got in a day of hiking and a day of biking.  We did the classic Lake Louise Little Beehive / Big Beehive loop on Sunday, and on Monday we rode down to Wayne (near Drumheller) for a beer and some eats. It doesn't get much better than that! So fun!!

Lake Louise

It's your last chance! For what, I don't know.

So here's hoping there are a few more decent weekeneds left up Mother Nature's sleeve... Yeah!

Cheers!
