It's a New Year!

Well..... another 365 sleeps are behind us..... and we're already 20 sleeps into the new year.....  **SIGH**  Truth be known, I'm actually quite glad that 2018 is over, as I have to say it was a year that will not make it into my top 48! LOL! However, time does not stand still, and with the turning over of the calendar, I am turning over some less-than-fond memories and leaving them face down in the 2018 dust. Onward!

And with that, 2019 is off to a decent start. After a low-key Christmas and New Year's during which I got to spend some very valuable time with my parents, I enjoyed the fabulous outdoors with good friends and have even done a bit of redecorating in my modest living space.

The usual suspects!

My Mom's lovely tree.

Me and baby Belle - love
her cute underbite!

The drive home from Medicine Hat went from
tumbleweeds blowing across the road.....

.....to driving on a curling rink in a whiteout!
Typical Alberta winter!

In spite of not receiving much snow around Central Alberta thus far, the little gem of a ski hill we have here in the Red Deer River valley is an awesome place to get outside. Both chairlifts are operating and almost all of the runs are open, and as you can see, it is not terribly crowded!

The snow situation out west is a completely different story - a snowshoeing day last weekend took us into a gorgeous, relatively untraveled valley where there was no shortage of the powdery stuff. It was cold but beautiful, and there were rosy cheeks and smiles all around.

This upcoming weekend has more mountain exploits in store, and I'm excited to check out new snowy terrain with my Canmore tribe!

In my 'downtime' as of late - haha - I have been rearranging a couple of the rooms in my house. My townhouse is comfortable, don't get me wrong, but it has been a very long time since I've felt settled and like I'm living in an actual home, so this past month I decided to do something to remedy that. Between getting creative with my existing furniture and purchasing a few new pieces, I now have a wine rack and a den, and I will soon have a real guest bedroom plus an updated living room!

I am pleased to be able to offer you a
glass of wine when you come for a visit!

I've had these whimsical purple chairs for years,
and now they are part of my zen den.

The rest of the mini makeover should be complete in the next few weeks, and I'll post photos of the final product.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to a stained glass art class that I signed up for as well as the Spanish lessons I enrolled in. I totally loved every second of a jewelry making course I took in November, so I'm expecting to have at least as much fun with these two new learning adventures! Stay tuned!

Cheers!
