It's all fun and games...

...until somebody loses their board!! Yep, second day in Maui... and Todd is now down to one kiteboard. He bid hasta la vista to his beloved DeCosse Customs 131 today, after a 45 knot (or so) gust turned a usual board grab into a bit of a wipeout. And then a subsequent 1 km (or so) body drag to shore. D'OH!!

R.I.P. Fire Board!! You'll be missed.

Anyhow, after the cursing subsided and kite lines were untangled, we proceeded  to search the beach for a couple of hours this afternoon but had no luck finding it. Oh well. It was such a great board; it's been many places, and at least it disappeared doing something it loved!! Hee hee.

Oh yeah - our condo. It is FABULOUS!! We are right on the beach in Kihei and the place is immaculate!

Still smiling! Even after suffering a tremendous loss. Rum helps.

We are so fortunate to be in such an awesome location. The temperature is in the low 30's, and there is no rain forecasted... it doesn't get much better than this! So far, the only disappointing thing about Maui is the fact that they burn off their sugar cane fields before harvesting... which results in nasty smoke that blows across the island, smogging out everything in its path. Ewwww.

On the upcoming vacation agenda is driving the road to Hana, plus a trip to the Haleakala Crater. Tomorrow however, I'm thinking somebody will be shopping for a new board...

Cheers!

Oh, Maui is just the best! Have such a great time you two...
And RIP to Todd's board... that is sure a stinker of a way to start the trip! Glad he is okay though!
